Mama Love sent more than 50 parcels with small gifts to children at the Grace Centre daycare and permanent home. Our contact there sent us some pictures of their Christmas Day along with a beautiful letter describing the day's events.

"Wow, what an incredible day! Started early with the delivery of gifts to the special needs class and what an amazing thing it was to be a part of providing a little Christmas cheer to these kids.  They waited patiently (well mostly) as all the gifts were handed out, so excited just to see the bright colours and have something of their very own.  So many of the kids come from poor families who struggle simply for survival let alone extras.  These kids, mind you, are the lucky ones.  They are getting an education.  They get to explore their world rather than being locked in a home because someone believes they bring 'shame' on their families.

We told the kids to go ahead and open the gifts and many of them, having never had a present, didn't know what to do.  It was a bitter sweet moment.  The staff and Grace Volunteers lent a hand and in no time even bigger and brighter smiles were filling the room as the children exclaimed excitedly over the contents of their packages.  What a blessing it is to be a blessing.  Thanks for giving us the opportunity to do this and be a part of it.  Balloons flew through the room, candy was consumed, pictures were coloured, pencils sharpened and so many special children were made to feel loved and reminded that they are special and cared about.

One of the mothers arrived to collect her child and she was so overwhelmed and thankful, just delighted that someone would care about her special child.  Nati, giggled louder and more joyfully than I have ever seen or heard and little Abraham, with the phone, was so sweet and loving, sharing it delightedly with all the other children.  It was a beautiful thing to see.

In the afternoon, we packed up all the kids in full time care and nannies who watch them and headed to a friend's house for a Christmas Party.  The afternoon was filled with bubbles, chalk drawings, balloons, 'golf', dressups and lots of play time,  We told the Christmas story, wished Jesus happy birthday and had cake.  Then it was time for the presents.  Such an excited bunch of kids almost jumping up and down in anticipation as they waited for their very own gift to be given to them.  Oh the smiles, I wish you could have seen the joy you brought to their faces.  They were so delighted and spent special time showing us and others what their parcel held.  The harmonicas were a great hit and you could not have chosen better for the 10 year old girl.  She loves to colour and the yoyo was a very special treat.  The maraccas and rattles were in use immediately and the kids excitedly pulled out pens and pencils.  So much fun packed into the parcels - they will continue to enjoy their gifts for so long!

I really cannot express to you what an incredible time we had watching the joy and happiness on the faces of all the children today.  My heart has spent all day smiling.  Thank you and all the people at mama Love for blessing so incredibly our special kids - we love them and it is always great to have another way to show each one of them just how loved and treasured they are."
